Becca loves Daddy!!!

She hates cuddling, and she can't stand posing for pictures.
So this, my friends, is a true rarity:

365 Challenge: November 5th

I love board games and have been itching to play The Game of Life for a while, so when I saw that Target had it for 12 bucks, I had to have it. I also decided to force my husband to play that very night. Somehow I had forgotten that it takes about half an hour to actually set the board up and how complicated the path of life can be:

I learned two important lessons:
a) If you are an adult, The Game of Life can be kind of depressing and plunge you into a premature midlife crisis.
b) Kids never pay off

I guess I could add another one:
c) At the point that your husband has accrued so much money that you actually run out of $100,000 bills, it is time to quit, especially if you have a car full of adopted kids who want to go to college.

Oh yes, one last one:
Life imitates The Game of Life

The Gods Are Working Against Me Here...

Finally, I found time to sit down and upload my pictures of the day from the last couple of days. And of course Photobucket goes down right after I upload them, so there is no way I can update this now. Grr.

Today was a perfectly lovely day where I sat outside in our back yard in the sunshine and enjoyed my new friend Sherry's company. It is a Rebecca and Jordan lovefest whenever we get together, and I am thankful for having found someone here that I get along with so well.

At some point, I told her about that lovely German saying "God punishes the small sins right away", and the rest of the day, we watched it in action. Rebecca tried to pull an orange off the tree although I told her not to, and promptly fell over her foot, and so on and so on.

So I am now sitting here, without an uploaded photo to my name, wondering what little sin I am getting punished for right away ;)

365 Challenge: November 4th

My first picture:

Rebecca (three in January) running to the TV and giving President Elect Obama a kiss on the cheek during his speech.

We were not sure which way her sympathies were leaning, considering she said "I like McCake!" and liked hitting our Obama yard sign with a stick, but I think Obama's charm won even her over ;)

Election Day Photos

Rebecca is not a willing subject at the moment, but here are some of my attempts at getting some pictures of her, hoping she will someday look back at these and smile.

Yesterday, however, it was not so easy to get her to smile. Maybe she is a Republican.

365 photos / A year in our lives

I read about a challenge that includes taking and posting a picture a day, every day, for 365 days. You should try to take a picture that says something about that day, basically representing what you will remember about that day.

Yesterday, our nation elected a new President, and I had the sense of it being a truly momentous, historic, important moment, not only for our country but for the world. At the same time, we are getting ready to send our little girl off to preschool for the first time in January, meaning she is no longer our little baby but an independent big kid, ready for some experiences that don't include Mommy and Daddy.

If I had started this project 365 days ago, it would have included a move across the country, visits to Europe and many new spots in California. You would have seen some molars come in and knees scraped, many babies born in our group of friends, lots of packing and unpacking, Christoph's first American Thanksgiving and Christmas, Rebecca's first meeting with Mickey Mouse, and lots more.

I am excited to see what the next year will hold for us...
